Enjoy!

"Changing the Face of Asian American Men in the Media"

I've always noted that I want to change the face of the Asian American Males portrayed in the Main Stream Media. There’s no doubts that over the decades Asian Men have been categorized, stereotyped, and desexualized.

It never really occurred how severe the situation was until I hit the auditioning phase in my career, which was also in my halfway phase in dropping out from USC.

Roles, after roles the breakdowns would list and exemplify the obvious lack of imagination when it comes to diversifying a cast with an Asian American character.

Quite simply put it was difficult for casting directors to sit down in an interview with me and see the potential range of my acting abilities outside of their imagination borders, which was strictly defined by their limited exposure to Asian faces in previous/current big screen roles.

I DON'T BLAME THEM, nor do I want to continue complaining about it. I'm not a fan of picketing or whining. Instead I quietly contemplated strategies to overcome this barrier of “limited imagination” by going out there hustling, producing and creating roles for myself that was not of the standard norm, and roles I could never have booked if I alone had to audition for them.

Perhaps this was what they meant by “paving the wave”. I can recall a Blog I read on Actor Garret Sato's page that signified the importance of obsessive dedication to the craft and career. I took it to heart, and became a workaholic in marketing, networking and hustling. Adopted a philosophy that demanded I take full responsibility for all my actions and results with no excuses and adapted an ideology that helped others to solidify the bonds of what I call "Networking".

"We are where we are based on the decisions we have made throughout our lives. Our biggest dreams are possible. The moment we become responsible."

And here I am sincerely asking for your help and assistance because I cannot do this alone nor have I done everything that I have alone. For those who have supported me, I am forever grateful and unforgettable appreciation.

I'm nowhere near where I want to be in Life and my career quite yet, which is also the fundamental source of having to stay humble. But here are some fruits of my recent labor, a progress report of my work ethics, personal and professional.

I truly believe the KEY to “Changing the Face of Asian Americans in the Media” is to confidently dissipate the "Asian American" Label. In other words, to be known, judged and measured solely by the quality of the craft and not by the color of the skin or in ones slanted eye.

My dream is to one day be an A-List actor known as "Adrian Zaw".

PLEASE CHECK OUT THESE NEW PROJECTS: Enjoy them, Share them, Comment, and Subscribe. And thank you thank you thank you. Remember I could never have gotten the honor of playing these roles if I had to audition for them. So become more than just an actor, and help one another guys!

Sincerely,

Episode 26: “Zombie Strippers” Premiere @ the Landmark Theatre

Beautiful naked girls never looked better then when they’re dead and dancing on a pole. Did I say that? It was a “Shamelessly Marketable Movie” according to Writer and Director Jay Lee, everything you like about zombie movies, and strippers all in one big package with Jenna Jameson leading the charge.

However, I have to say there was a major third element of philosophical diatribe conveyed from the most unlikely of cast members. I’m not sure if it was the complex content or the fact that there wasn’t enough blood left in my brain to analyze the message, but I did have a hard time… period.

Anyways, I was accompanying my buddy actor “Brad Milne” (www.bradmilne.com) who plays the evil mad scientist by the name of “Dr. Chushfeld”. Whom we’ll see strutting the carpet, introducing the amazing Jenna Jameson and much more.

In this Vide-Blog I get to talk to the creative mind of Director and Writer Jay Lee to ask him “Why, How and Congrats” on making this movie. I also converse with actress Jessica Custodio who plays “Kwan” the “Token Asian Girl” and Laura Bach who plays “Sassy Sue” a true militant fighter in the zombie combating elite unit.

Red Carpet, Strippers, Zombies, and a Movie. Sounds like it’d be a fun date? No? Well, I’m glad I was able to share it with you guys out there.

Episode 35: Ninja Proof By Unrendered Media

It's another beautiful evening in the city of Rancho Palos Verdes, California with blue skies, warm weather, cocaine, guns, money, cigars, cops and of course a camera to Video-Blog every highlighting moment of the evening.

From the set of "Ninja Proof" by Unrendered Media I was able to give you guys a sneak peek at the new comedy action film that's coming soon. We have interviews with Director Nick Acosta on the creation and history of his project, as well as Miguel GORILLA Lopez owner of GORILLA enterprises (www.the-gorilla.com) who resembled the "Father we Never Had" you know who I'm talking about. The infamous "Tom Leykis" from 97.1 FM. As well as a real live action hero "Frank" who is the full armed and fully trained Official "BADASS" of the Episode.

We also have a sneak peek at "Ninja Proof" below:

On a side note, I was asked a very interesting question. "Why are you doing these Video-Blog's Adrian?" My answer? I have various reasons but the top few are these in no particular order.

WHY I VIDEO-BLOG:
1. Personal - So that 10 years from now I can watch them and never forget who I was, the people around me, and the journey and destinations I've traveled to and experienced. (Also to see all the nice thick black hair I have on my head at this prime old age of 23)
2. Family andamp; Friends – There's nothing like sharing video with family over seas. For those who can't see me this I one way to take them with me.
3. If "Pictures can paint a thousand words." Then Video-Blogs well can garner a million views. I need to let as many people know One: Who I am Two: What I do and Three: How well I do it. It'd be awesome to get paid for the things I love to do one day.

Episode 34: Cutting Ribbon and AEG Live

The Stars came out again, and this time in broad day light for the sno:la Yogurt Store Ribbon Cutting Event. Emily O’Brian returned dressed in a gown that made her look more like a classy movie star than a Soap Opera actress.

But the coolest of them all was the man in the shades. "Cool" like the tip of an Ice Berg… I’m talking about Brandon "Randy K. Phillips the President and CEO of AEG Live. I had the honor and privilege of talking with him regarding his thoughts on the online community, and being involved with the outside world.

Some words of advice on how some things like being at a live event can never be replaced, replicated, or relived by watching an online video. The secret to living is going out there into the world and seeing it live and in person.

What is AEG Live? Well, its only one of the leading providers of live entertainment and sports in the world. If you check out www.aeglive.com you can find all the info you need. On a side note "GO LAKERS!" that’s not me that’s my mom and dad speaking. If you visit: www.aegworldwide.com you’ll know what I mean.

Anyways, the subject matter in the interview reminded me of why I even made Video-Blogs. One it was a way for me to share my journeys and adventures with those who can’t be there to join me, (My Family Abroad) and secondly to be able to document my awesome encounters with amazing people I meet throughout my travels.

As the saying goes, "If a picture can paint a thousand words," then Video-Blogs can probably garner a million views.

As for sno:la Yogurt Shop, its now open and is currently serving delicious eco-friendly yogurts in Beverly Hills. Here’s the address just in case you’re curious.

Well that’s it for right now, once again saying farewell from the far corners of the World Wide Web. Bridging gaps while shooting for the stars, thanks for reading.
